Steve Li

Steve Li is a director based in Hong Kong. His works cover short film, dance video, NGO online promotion video, etc. He was the finalist of the 13th Freshwave International Short Film Festival. He was awarded the best screenplay & the best cinematography at the 13th and 14th Golden Sugar Cane Film Festival in Taiwan respectively. He was a cinematographer of Associated Press (HK). He worked for TVB and RTHK as assistant director. He is now a member of MÉNOS.

Safe Place


At the apex of pyramid comes to surveillance system. This is the time when every single thoughts and behaviors can be calculated and predicted, even improvisation. Has creation turned into a play of illusion?

Maya, the dancer, improvises her practice steps, which are successfully forecasted by the computer program based on her habits and previous dancing images. She tries to surprises the digital system in vain. The battlefield of fear and gloom overcomes her like a cowl. Is it her only option to stop dancing so as to escape from the quandary?
